I added a new page for videos! Look under the "news" tab!!! :)
Peppermint has had quite a few journeys already! She went to Australia where she learned that Christmas time is in the summer season, swam with fish in the Great Barrier Reef, saw over 750 reptiles, and stopped for marsupials (like wombats and kangaroos)!
While in Israel, Peppermint saw snowy mountains and hot desert, she played a few games of soccer (their most popular sport), bought souvenirs with shekels, and learned about Hanukkah (the Festival of Lights)! On Friday, Peppermint landed in another state overnight...Alaska! She learned all about "The Great Frontier". Peppermint thought it was really interesting that Russia used to own what we now know as Alaska. She was impressed by the ice carvings she saw on her way to the North Pole and loved seeing the largest Santa in the world! Finally, over the weekend, Peppermint went to the Scandinavian country of Sweden. While there, she got to see the beautiful "Northern Lights", met the royal family, walked through the lush forests, listened to pop music, and saw all the preparations for the upcoming St. Lucia Day! Yesterday we received a very special package from the North Pole...a Scout Elf!!! Jayden was the first person done with her morning work and had the honor of opening our gift (which included a letter from Santa!). The class brainstormed names and we had a vote...the winning name was PEPPERMINT! Peppermint is a special elf because not only does she report behavior back to Santa each night, she also learns some cool things along the way! Each night, on her way back to our class from the North Pole, Peppermint stops in a different country or state to learn and share facts with us the very next day! Students will keep a journal of where Peppermint has been and a few things that they learned about that place. Although I'm at a meeting today, I got word that last night Peppermint went to Russia!
